Proper usage and maintenance
Proper usage and maintenance is vital for getting the most out of the valuable resources we have. Our designs are made to last for generations, but just like everything else, they need a little care to get there.
Oak
Origin
Oak grows in most temperate zones. The Skagerak oak comes from European forests and is either 100% FSC certified or FSC mix certified, supporting sustainable forest management. The selection of the wood is extremely careful and all processing is by hand, so that only the best and most durable pieces of wood are used in production. Why
Oak is a sturdy and hardwearing type of wood containing natural tannins that will protect against bacterial growth. Combined with its light, elegant colour and well-defined grains, this makes oak wood safe choice for high-quality interior.
Cleaning
The wood comes with no finish. If you choose not to treat it with soap or oil, use a suitable cleaning agent for wood.Maintenance
As the wood is untreated it may be affected by grease and colorants. For this reason, we recommend saturating the wood with soap or a suitable furniture oil to make it more resistant. If you wish to use soap or oil, use a suitable product. Be aware that the wood will change colour when applying soap or oil.Note: When using Skagerak's drying racks, do not dry wet laundry directly on the wood as this might discolor the fabric.
Crisp
Why
Crisp is multi-coloured fabric woven in an attractively strong woollen yarn – 93% wools of New Zealand, 7% polyamide. It has superb abrasion qualities made for everyday use, and is further more naturally dirt resistant. Crisp is both Oeko-Tex and EU Ecolabel certified and 100% free of heavy metals.Maintenance
Crisp requires a minimum of maintenance and will keep its beautiful appearance for many years. Vacuum the upholstery regularly. Remember to use a proper attachment to avoid pilling.Cleaning
The Crisp fabric should only be dry-cleaned. However, most spots can be removed with lukewarm water and a mild wool detergent. We recommend to treat stains immediately. It is a good idea to test on a minor spot before beginning the cleaning process. Use only a small amount of detergent and dry up with an absorbent cloth after.FR Fibre Wadding
Fibre Wadding is made of carded thin polyester fibres that contain air in between the fibres. The entrapped air creates the ability to insulate and to provide a soft comfort feeling in the cushion.
Maintenance
In order to keep the fibres and cushion full of air, be sure to shake the cushion occasionally.Note
The fibres are FR treated and approved for UK markets.
