For many years, she has travelled and lived in beautiful cities and cultures, and it is here that she finds her inspiration for new designs. Maria Zachariae is an aesthete down to the smallest detail, so she embraces the impressions given her by her travels and everyday life.
She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and qualified as an architect from the School of Architecture at the Copenhagen Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. Since then, she has travelled to many parts of the world, and apart from Denmark her destinations include such countries as Great Britain, Switzerland, Zimbabwe, Thailand, Estonia and Russia. Maria Zachariae has had her own design studio and lived in many different places as a result of her long-standing marriage to a Swiss in the hotel business. She prefers to work with wood. And for many years her favourite view was from the Trinity Bridge in St. Petersburg, from where one can see all vessels arriving in the city. But today she just has to go out the front door into the street where she lives. For from here she is captivated by the beautiful Christ Saviour Cathedral with the lovely towers of the Kremlin in the background. For an aesthete like her, that view offers a host of details and impressions to be absorbed.
